George Hester

George Hester has been writing drill since 2002 and has written for several competing marching bands from Texas, Michigan, Illinois, California and Thailand. He has designed over 25 shows since 2002 and has written for bands that represent top honors in state and international competitions.

George marched with the 6-time DCI World Champion drum and bugle corps, The Cavaliers, for 4 years as a mellophone and soprano in 1993, 1996, 1997 and 1998.

After attending school at the University of Michigan from 1996-2000, George won a position to perform with the cast of Blast!. He was a member of the cast from 2000-2001 and performed in the US cities of Boston, Milwaukee, Detroit, Chicago, Bloomington (IN), Washington D.C. and New York City on Broadway. He also performed at the Royal Variety Show in London, UK and "Wetten, Dass..?" in Basel, Switzerland (Dec. 2000) while with the cast. Blast! went on to be nominated for two Tony Awards in 2001, taking home the award for Best Special Theatrical Event. (The other nomination being for Best Choreography).

George's teaching experience includes working as a visual and music tech for the Plymouth-Canton HS (MI) marching band (1996, 1999, 2001), the Novi HS (MI) marching band (1996-1998), and the Franklin HS (MI) marching band (2002-2003). George taught as a visual tech for the Bluecoats drum and bugle corps in 2004 and pre-tour 2005, and will be returning to teaching on the drum corps front as both a brass and visual tech for the Bluecoats in the 2006 season.

Besides drill designing, George also enjoys to compose and arrange music for all sorts of ensembles. He is a professional trumpet player and has much experience teaching privately as well as acting as a brass/music consultant for several schools and organizations. His intellect and attention to detail on the music front is what makes him such a successful drill designer, and his goal is to always create a product that is modern and original for each and every group.

George is a native of Canton, MI and currently resides in Houston, TX.

 
Cory Meals

Cory Meals is Director of Bands at Waller High School (TX) and Director of Music for Waller Independent School District. He has previously held positions in Klein ISD (TX) and Keller ISD (TX). Both concert and marching ensembles under his direction have earned numerous "Superior" and "Best in Class" ratings throughout Texas, as well as advancement to the UIL Texas 4A State Marching Contest in 2007.

Meals holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, IL. While at VanderCook Meals worked with many Chicago-area marching bands including: Lake ParkHigh School, Wheaton Warrenville South High School, and Downer's Grove South High School, helping several of those groups to achieve numerous regional titles.

He is a five-year veteran of the world-champion Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps (1997-2001), and served on the instructional staff during the 2002-2006 seasons. Meals is an active adjudicator, clinician, and drill designer in both the United States and Canada. His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educator's Association, Texas Bandmaster’s Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He currently resides in Houston, Texas.
